The basics

Cost, timing and what to expect

How much does it cost to paint a room in the Twin Cities?

For a standard bedroom with 8-foot ceilings, walls only, most homeowners in the west metro land somewhere in the $285–$365 range for labor. Trim, tall or vaulted walls, heavy patching, and dark-over-light color changes all push it up. The honest answer is that nobody can price your room accurately from a website — that is what the free estimate is for. See how I put a number together.

Do you really have me buy the paint?

Yes, and it saves you money. Painting companies typically mark paint up 30–50%. When you buy it directly you pay store price, you pick the exact brand and sheen you want, and you keep the leftovers for touch-ups later.

You will not be guessing. After the walkthrough I give you an exact list — brand, product line, sheen, color, and how many gallons — so you buy the right thing once. If you would rather not deal with the store, tell me and we will work something out.

How long does painting a room take?

A single bedroom, walls only, is usually one day. Add trim and it is typically two. A whole main floor is normally three to five days depending on how much patching and how many colors are involved. I will give you a realistic day count in your estimate, and if something changes I will tell you before it becomes a surprise.

Do I need to move my furniture out?

No. Move small, fragile, and valuable things yourself — electronics, art, anything you would hate to lose. I will move the rest to the middle of the room, cover it, and cover the floors. Everything goes back where it was before I leave.

You are 19. Why should I trust you with my house?

Fair question, and I would rather answer it than dodge it. I have been painting since I was young — on job sites, on crews, doing the prep, the taping, and the cleanup that nobody sees. What you are hiring is the hands that do the work, not a salesperson who hands your house to whoever is available that week.

Here is how I would suggest you protect yourself with any painter: ask for a written estimate, do not pay in full up front, and walk the finished job with them before the final payment. I do all three by default. More about who I am and how I work.

What areas do you serve?

I am based in Plymouth and work across the west metro — Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Golden Valley, Medina, New Hope, Crystal, Osseo, Orono, St. Louis Park, and the surrounding suburbs. See the full service area. If you are just outside it, ask anyway.
