About

Hi, I'm Alek.

True Painting MN is just me — no office, no call center, no rotating crew. The person who gives you the estimate is the person on the ladder, and the person you hand the check to at the end.

  • Free, no-pressure estimates
  • Owner-operated — same person every day
  • Based in Plymouth, MN
  • Walkthrough with you before I leave

Let's get the obvious question out of the way

I'm 19, and I'd rather you know that upfront than wonder about it while I'm standing in your living room. I've been painting since I was young, on real job sites, learning to prep and tape properly before I ever charged anyone for it. What you're hiring is the person who actually does the work, not a salesperson who quotes your house and hands it to whoever's free that week.

Why I started my own thing

Working for other people, the same pattern kept showing up: prep got rushed because the schedule was tight, and the person who sold the job wasn't the one who had to live with the result. I wanted to do it differently — one person, one job at a time, with my own name on the outcome. If the walls look great, that's on me. If something's wrong, that's on me too.

How I'd tell you to hire any painter — including me

Ask for a price in writing before anything starts. Don't pay in full up front. Walk the finished job together in good light before you pay the balance. I do all of this by default, and I'd ask the same of anyone you're considering — a painter who gets defensive about it has told you something.

What I believe about the work

Prep is the job — rolling paint is the easy part, and whether your walls hold up in five years depends on everything that happened before the finish coat. You get one written price that doesn't move unless you add work, and I'll tell you plainly if something isn't a fit for what I do rather than take the money anyway. Your house isn't a job site: it gets covered before anything opens and cleaned up every day, not just the last one.

Faith, and why it's on this page

Church is a real part of my life, and it's where the way I run this comes from — doing what I said I'd do, and charging what I said I'd charge. The one practical effect on the job is that I don't work Sundays.

Where I'm starting from

True Painting MN is new. I don't have a long list of reviews yet, because I haven't done a hundred jobs under this name yet — I'm not going to buy fake ones to make it look otherwise. What you get instead is more attention than a company with a full schedule can give you, because right now every job is the one that decides whether this works.

What I'd like from you

If I do good work, tell someone and leave a review — for a business like mine, that's not a nice-to-have, it's the whole thing. If I get something wrong, tell me before you tell the internet, and I'll fix it.
